Service of legal papers
Papers in the right hands,on the record.
Serving legal papers means putting a document into the hands of the person it names — lawfully — and then swearing to it in writing. That is what we do, throughout Erie and Niagara counties.

What it actually means
A paper handed to a person is not the same as a paper served.
Anyone can drop an envelope on a porch. Service is different. New York law says who may be served, where they may be served, and what has to be written down about it. Get that wrong and the whole case can stall while the paperwork is sorted out.
So service is two jobs, not one. The first is delivery: getting the document to the named person, at a place and a time that holds up. The second is the record: an affidavit of service that states plainly when, where and how it happened, signed by the person who did it.
We do both. You hand us the papers, we make reasonable attempts at different times and on different days, and you get the proof of service back so you can file it.
What we serve
The documents that need to land.
Summons and complaint
The papers that start a lawsuit. They have to reach the named person, and the court has to be told exactly how and when that happened.
Subpoenas
Witness subpoenas and records subpoenas — served at a home, a workplace or wherever the person can lawfully be found.
Notices
Notices of petition, demand letters and other notices that carry a deadline with them.
Court documents
Motions, orders to show cause, and the other filings that have to be delivered on the other side.
Family court papers
Petitions, orders and related family court documents, served promptly and without drama.
Small claims and civil papers
Small claims notices and civil filings, handled the same way as everything else — properly, and on the record.
How it goes
Three steps, and no guessing in between.
You hand us the papers
A scan, a PDF or a photo is fine. Tell us who they are for and where they might be found.
We attempt service
Reasonable attempts at different hours and different days, each one written down as it happens.
You get the proof of service
The affidavit of service comes back to you completed, signed and ready to file with the court.
